The Pedal Pub makes you work for your beer

Generally I leave the beer gadgets to our resident alcohol fan, but sometimes, there’s one just too offbeat to pass up. In this case, that would be the Pedal Pub, a bar mounted on a bicycle that hands out beer.

Invented by the Dutch because, well, what the hell else do they have to do, the Pedal Pub consists of ten bike seats facing the bar, and yes, you have to pedal. There’s also a driver, a space for the bartender, and a bench in the back for two people.

The beer, the most crucial part of this enterprise, is placed in a wine barrel attached to the front of this rolling bar. You’ll have to link it to the tap yourself, but once you do, the bartender can easily hand out brews and place them in the cupholders built into the bar.

Granted, at $40,000, this isn’t going to be a cheap item, and you may have to look at open container laws in your area before buying one even if you can afford it.

On the other hand, you and nine friends can finally get exercise doing what you love, and isn’t that worth it?
