A comic book trailer in the form of an old school beat ’em up

By 12.03.12

Never before has a comic book looked so cool and playable.

Kotaku was the first to highlight the following, a trailer for a new comic called Skull and Shark by Dave Rapoza

Trying to breath life into static images by moving them around, in a semi-animated fashion is no new thing. For a few years now, Marvel has been taking major story arcs, usually involving the Avengers, and portraying them in a similar fashion.

And motion comics are okay, I guess, but when they’re presented like a 16-bit side-scrolling brawler, a la Final Fight or Streets of Rage, not only do I want to read the whole damn thing, but play it as well.

About Matt Hawkins... Matt Hawkins is an NYC based video game journalist, designer, consultant, and cultralist. He's been published in EGM, Kotaku, and MSNBC amongst others. Matt also makes comics and zines, is obsessed with cable access, gets into arguments with homeless people all the time, and once had his nipple bitten off during a one night stand. But that's neither here nor there.
