Halloween is the day to learn about scary games

By / 10.31.12

And also getting said scary games on the cheap.

It should come as little surprise that many publishers who are making games that are supposed to be spooky have chosen today to release trailers. Like the folks behind Until Dawn, that cabin in the woods simulator I first mentioned at New York Comic Con

Next is a trailer for Amnesia: A Machine For Pigs, the semi-sequel to one of the best survival horror experiences in recent memory, Amnesia: The Dark Descent

And finally we have something called Outlast. Not a whole lot is known, other than its by a brand new studio, one comprised of industry vets from Ubisoft and Naughty Dog. Seems very Mirror’s Edge-like, which is a good thing…

Unfortunately, all those games are still forthcoming, but there’s still plenty of other scary games to get, and on the cheap. Steam is having a Halloween sale, and I’d personally recommend Dead Space 1 & 2, Left 4 Dead 1 & 2, Fear 1 & 2 (totally skip part 3, it sucks), and the aforementioned first Amnesia.

Almost all of those can be nabbed for just $5. To start shopping, simply start here.
