Find. Eat. Drink.: An app for people who want actual restaurants

Crowdsourcing is wonderful for many, many things, but it is spectacularly lousy at helping you find a restaurant worth eating at. Yelp is crammed with entitled douchebag college students and people trying to blackmail a joint out of a free meal. Zagat guides are basically your lame uncle’s idea of awesome food. Any human being who describes themselves as a “foodie” is Andre from The League and cannot be trusted with anything.

Find. Eat. Drink.

So who to ask? Why not chefs, bartenders, and other people who actually work in the food industry?

That’s the basic idea behind the app Find. Eat. Drink. Essentially the app is the recommendations of local fine dining chefs, bartenders, and other food industry types where they go for dinner and a drink.

But it’s incredibly effective. True, opinions, even trained ones, are subjective. On the other hand, where I live there’s a fairly reliable list of middle-of-the-road places that appear on every single travel guide because they’re either cheap or tourist friendly, and this app didn’t feature a single one.

So, if you’re looking for a place worth eating at, this will fit the bill.
