Did you know that Gallagher starred in his own arcade game?

You know, that annoying bald guy with the barrette that smashed watermelons in front of a live audience, aka the most bored and easily amused people in all of America, throughout the 80s and 90s? Yeah, that guy.

Gallagher’s Gallery was a laser disc game (remember those?) that was similar to Mad Dog McCree. But instead of shooting actors dressed up as cowboys, you’re shooting cans of soup while Gallagher rambling on like an idiot the entire time.

Here’s an example of the game in action. It’s over six minutes long; I assure you, just the first minute is more than sufficient…

Now, for a closer look at those cut scenes, Kotaku has you covered. I have chosen one at random, because they’re all fairly god awful and annoying (but thankfully short)…

Seriously, how in the hell did this guy get as far as he did? And people believe America has serious problems today.

About Matt Hawkins... Matt Hawkins is an NYC based video game journalist, designer, consultant, and cultralist. He's been published in EGM, Kotaku, and MSNBC amongst others. Matt also makes comics and zines, is obsessed with cable access, gets into arguments with homeless people all the time, and once had his nipple bitten off during a one night stand. But that's neither here nor there.
