‘Assassin’s Creed 4’ will apparently feature pirates?

For those of us who thought the follow up to Assassin’s Creed III would take place during the Civil War, we were all wrong. Or maybe not?

Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flags is apparently the name of the next Assassin’s Creed game. The following a poster that was supplied to Kotaku by a tipster, which is supposed to be on store walls this upcoming Monday…

Kotaku

As you can see, it illustrates the familiar looking, white hooded assassin, in the midst of a brawl for all on a pirate ship.

They go on to explain how someone on Reddit claimed to have spotted a woman sitting in front of him on a plane, working on a PowerPoint for the game, which is supposed to come out later this year.

Meanwhile, The Examiner has what they claim is a leaked screenshot. And it’s pretty blurry and fairly nondescript…

Again, I honestly figured that the next game in the series would take place during the Civil War. And not just because I’m a hopeless fan of that era. Instead, it’s supposed to pre-date part three and star Ratonhnhaké:ton’s dad, or something like that.

I don’t know. Sounds like total b.s. to me. And just because the poster looks like a second year art school student’s mid-semester project. It also sports a style that totally flies in the face of what’s been established. True Ubisoft could be going for something entirely different, but still.

Then again, despite my affinity for North vs. South, a game that stars pirates does sound appealing. Mostly because it would mostly take place in the open seas, and one of the best parts of part three was all the naval battles. Guess we’ll all see if it’s bunk next week.
