Look, I’m not in the business of telling you what you should and shouldn’t enjoy. Actually, no, I am in that business.
With that in mind, let me show you this sea otter dunking a basketball. If this doesn’t bring a smile to your face, you’ve failed miserably as a person.
The little guy’s name is Eddie and he resides at the Portland Zoo. As you can tell, he’s giant Trail Blazers fan.
Eddie, who’s pretty geriatric at 16 years old, started basketball training as a way to exercise his arthritic elbow joints, said his keeper Jenny DeGroot. Otters use their back legs and flippers to swim, so DeGroot had to get creative to help him exercise his elbows. His shooting game, done behind-the-scenes as part of his care, has since excelled.
“Eddie almost never misses,” DeGroot said in a zoo video uploaded Tuesday. “And if does, he keeps going until he makes it. He’s definitely got game.”
“Sea otters have incredible dexterity, so it makes sense Eddie would have this hidden talent. They’re famous for using rocks as tools to crack open clams.”
Excellent.
