Ryan Carter scored 15:36 into the third period to give the New Jersey Devils the lead for good in their Game 5 victory over the New York Rangers last night at Madison Square Garden. The Devils promptly jumped out to a 3-0 advantage, but relinquished it completely 17 seconds into the final period.

Carter, who scored just four goals in the regular season, has now found the net three times in the playoffs.

New Jersey is now on the brink of reaching the Stanley Cup Finals for the first time since 2003.
