Western Kentucky erased a 16-point deficit to beat Mississippi State 59-58 as March Madness got underway in Dayton. Jim Nantz called it one of the greatest comebacks in NCAA tournament history. It wasn’t. It may, however, have been the greatest collapse.

It was as if the Delta Devils flat-out forgot how to play basketball for the final four minutes of the game. They struggled to even get a shot off, turning the ball over repeatedly and wilting in the face of the Hilltoppers’ press.

T.J. Price’s three-point play with 16 seconds to play proved to be the difference for Western Kentucky, which now only needs to win three more tournament games to finish the year with a winning record.

The good news is that, for a few minutes at least, it felt like March again. The bad news is that it was a downright embarrassing display of basketball. Not a lot of quality to be found.
