This is the part where we make the joke about how if you had a Hollywood script, it would not be better than this story.
We’ve heard of waterboy to linebacker but team mascot to quarterback? That’s new. Meet Trent Bauer of Paul Laurence Dunbar High School in Lexington, Kentucky who has gone from mascot to ball boy to starting quarterback. And Bauer’s darn good too, leading his squad to a come from behind victory two weeks ago against rival Henry Clay. A victory that featured him throwing two 4th-quarter touchdowns.
Next step is to stop hanging out with your less cool, non-football playing friends, break up with your less cool, non-football playing girlfriend, and upgrade in both departments. Forge a solid connection with the oft-misunderstood lineman, who will then make the game-winning play in the district championship, solely because you once asked him "what's up?" when he was upset about his parents' particularly nasty divorce. Then date the hot cheerleader for awhile, but make sure to break up with her and go back to the girl that's always been there for you--unlike the blonde bombshell, she's not solely using you "to get out of this crummy town." Fade out to credits, with an overhead shot of the empty football field at sunset
