Stephen Colbert had a little fun last night with the concept of "voter shaming." Essentially, political operatives have found that one of the most effective ways to ensure voter turnout is to make you feel bad about not voting. They do this by saying it's your civic duty, by bringing up the sacrifices Americans have made in the past, and by pointing out that we still have troops overseas fighting for your right to vote. If you haven't voted yet, we will refrain from shaming.
But the fact of the matter is there are dudes like this guy who come home to their families after spending time fighting for our freedoms. Which should be an inspiration to get to the polls.
