The Associated Press has confirmed running back LaDainian Tomlinson is set to retire as a San Diego Charger. Tomlinson, who spent his first nine years in the Powder Blue, is widely considered one of the best running backs in the history of the NFL. The five-time pro-bowler holds the record for touchdowns in a single season (31), and rushing touchdowns in a season (28). He finished his career with 13,684 rushing yards, which is the fifth-most in NFL history.
Off the field, Tomlinson was a rather active member of the San Diego Community. "LT's 21 Club" helps students in need by providing school supplies and college scholarships. He was a co-recipient of the Walter Payton Man of the Year award in 2007, which recognizes both community and on-field excellence.
LT and his mom were also pretty big fans of Campbells Chunky Soup, as demonstrated by the commercial below.
