We live in a world where Northern Illinois is participating in the Orange Bowl. It’s weird, I know. ESPN college football Kirk Herbstreit isn’t too happy with this new development and didn’t hold back on his disgust last night.

Look, Herbie has a point. It is a bit of an embarrassment. But let’s not act like these BCS games are a beacon of sacrosanct goodness. Need I remind you that such powerhouses as Utah and Hawaii have also graced these big-money events?

Here’s hoping the Huskies shock the world, make Herbstriet look silly, and give the good people of DeKalb something to feel good about for once in their lives.
