During Sunday's Coca-Cola 600 at Charlotte Motor Speedway, a cable from Fox's sweeping overhead cameras snapped, bringing the rope down onto the track and damaging several cars. The cable also hit 10 people in the grandstand—injuring three enough that they needed hospitalization—and today, fan video from the incident emerged online.
It's terrifying, but it's also kind of awesomely Southern. Everyone has terrific North Carolina accents, and the guy holding the camera keeps yelling, "CAUTION, THROW A CAUTION" at the flagman while a 450-decibel NASCAR race is occurring. When no one hears him, he starts with the straight-outta Dukes of Hazzards hollerin'. I need to go to a race soon.
