New York Yankees left fielder Dewayne Wise crashed into the stands last night trying to catch a foul pop fly down the line. He clearly dropped the ball as he careened over the wall and didn’t even bother to pick it up as it rolled between fans.
That wasn’t an issue for third base umpire Mike DiMuro, who ruled it a catch anyway.
The crafty Wise tapped his glove and acted like he had the ball. DiMuro took him at his word without ever checking to see if there was anything inside the glove.
Definitely one of the best non-catch catches of all time.
