Witness Damian Lillard’s Game-Winning Series-Clinching Buzzer-Beater

The 2014 NBA playoffs continue to be some of the greatest of all-time and Friday night did not disappoint. In this riveting postseason there have been 21 games decided by five points or less, plus eight overtime games, as well as a record amount of Game 7’s. However the pinnacle of these playoffs (so far) is how the series between the Houston Rockets and the Portland Trail Blazers ended in dramatic fashion. With Portland leading the series 3-2, Blazers fans were silenced when Chalndler Parsons of the Rockets snagged an offensive rebound and then scored a reverse layup to put Houston up 98-96 with less than a second left. With 0.9 seconds remaining in what appeared to be the Blazers season, Lillard ran through several screens to free himself up for a fall-away 27-footer that sailed over the outstretched arms of the defender and into the basket giving Portland the 99-98 win. Game over. Series over. Lillard scored 25 points while shooting 8-for-14 from the field, including 6-for-10 from 3-point range. This amazing shot was the NBA’s first series-winning buzzer-beater since 1997.

Here’s the spectacular series-winning shot as seen from courtside.
