Wisconsin trailed Arizona State 32-30 late in the fourth quarter last night, but things looked like they'd turn the Badgers' way after quarterback Joel Stave led a near-perfect 2-minute drill from the 17 to the ASU 13. With 18 seconds left, Stave attempted to center the ball for a chip-shot field goal—only it looked like he never actually downed his knee. Just the ball. Which ASU's d-line immediately pounced on. And... ball game.
The play was either the biggest brain fart in recent college football history, or a near-criminal lack of communication by the refs. Still: the perfect capper to a very fun college football Saturday.
