UFC’s Conor McGregor Knocks Out Chad Mendes To Become UFC Interim Champion

In just a few years, Conor McGregor has gone from virtual unknown to one of the biggest stars in the UFC. Before tonight’s fight, most experts wondered if the hype was justified and criticized McGregor for not having beaten any quality opponents, but that all changed on Saturday night when Mcgregor beat top ranked Chad Mendes via TKO.

Mendes had dominated McGregor for most of the fight by taking him down to the ground at will but in the second round it seemed like Mendes gassed and couldn’t keep the Irishman down.

Conor, with 20 seconds left in the fight, was then able to punish Mendes in the standup until he knocked him out.

Next up for McGregor is UFC champion Jose Aldo, who was supposed to fight McGregor tonight but was sidelined with a rib injury. That fight will probably happen at the end of the year and will surely be one of the biggest fights in UFC history.
