VCU Bench Goes Bonkers After Walk-On Torey Burston Sinks Garbage-Time 3

Garbage time is for degenerate gamblers and those who appreciate seeing scrubs come off the bench and attempt to look competent. There’s a certain excitement to seeing a walk-on score points in a meaningful game. Perhaps it’s an earnest appreciation of all the hard work it’s taken to get to that point. Perhaps it’s the misguided notion that it could you you out there defying the odds.

And no one loves walk-ons more than the normal starters, who know just how valuable these reserves are to the team. That’s why you get awesome scenes like the one during last night’s VCU-St. Louis game.

Rams walk-on Torey Burston sank a three-pointer as time was winding down. The trifecta put VCU up by 21. So it wasn’t exactly important. But his teammates reacted as if he’d just gone Robert Horry in the NBA Finals.

Look at that exuberance. The one guy looks like he’s going to run out of the arena in joy.

Good clean fun.
