United offers to fly Air Force football to Navy game

The status of Saturday’s Air Force-Navy game remains up in the air because of the government shutdown. Air Force, somehow, needs to get to Annapolis without government funding. Thankfully, United Airlines has stepped up to the plate and offered their services.

Ok fine, maybe airlines aren’t the most evil corporations on earth. Maybe they do have a shred of decency. Actually, check that. The whole RT thing is shameless as hell.

Air Force will need accomodations beyond flights, something they may address with Mountain West Conference funding.

A military source told the Colorado Springs Gazette that there is a “50-50 chance” that the game will be played with Air Force using conference fees, conference TV money and ticket revenue making up for a lack of government funding.

Air Force is a member of the Mountain West Conference. Mountain West commissioner Craig Thompson told the Gazette that institutions typically have $2.5 million to $3 million in conference distributions at their disposal to use as they wish.

So we’ll wait and see if Air Force takes United up on their offer. In the meantime, let’s look at these hilarious responses to United’s tweet.
