UConn Wins National Championship, and Shabazz Napier Uses Postgame Interview to Burn NCAA

After taking a commanding lead over Kentucky only to see it chipped away just before the half, UConn prevailed in North Texas last night, winning 60-54 for its second national championship in four years. In front of the largest crowd ever and best bros Bill Clinton and George W. Bush, no less.

The Huskies hit their freebies—they finished the game 10-for-10 from the line while the Wildcats missed nine on the game (which they’re definitely not thinking about today!). UConn also benefited from the strong play of Shabazz Napier, who, when he wasn’t beating the shit out of his teammates, came through with 22 points on 8-of-16 shooting. He was named the most outstanding player of the Final Four, and LeBron even gave him some props on Twitter.

The senior also had QUITE the postgame interview, coming through what some are calling his Richard Sherman moment after he told Jim Nantz and the NCAA, “Ladies and gentlemen, you’re looking at the Hungry Huskies. This is what happens when you ban us.”

The Huskies were banned from the tourney last year for poor academic performance, and a couple of weeks ago Napier criticized the NCAA for making millions off his jersey while he went to bed hungry, so his comments didn’t come out of a vacuum.

Now go and make your paper.
