Last night, UCLA played its first home game since the death of wide receiver Nick Pasquale. The Bruins honored their fallen teammate by running their first offensive play with 10 men.
It was pretty moving.
After breaking the huddle with 11 men, wideout Shaquelle Evans ran to the sidelines with his finger pointed toward the sky.
"Our 11th guy out there was Pacman, and the players were fired up about doing that," UCLA coach Jim Mora said, using Pasquale's nickname.
Powerful stuff. And a reminder that not every sports story is a seedy scandal or legal run-in.
