This afternoon’s Outback Bowl featured an officiating abomination. After Michigan ran a fake punt against South Carolina, the zebras spotted the ball close to the line to gain. The chain gang came in and measured. As you can see, the football is shy of the marker and yet … the Wolverines were awarded a first down anyway.

How this happened is an unsolvable mystery. Apparently looking down would have been too difficult. Perhaps the ref was out drinking super-late last night. Your guess is as good as mine.

The football gods were just, though. The Gamecocks forced a fumble on the next play, took the ball, and scored.

But still … that’s a clown call, Bro.
