Umpire Brad Myers was struck in the groin by a line drive off the bat of Brandon Phillips in Cactus League play yesterday, which is one of the more painful things we’ve seen on a playing field in a long time.

I honestly can’t remember a similar incident with an umpire positioned up the middle. Phillips’ ball had to be an absolute blazer.
After laying on the infield grass for several minutes, Myers was able to stand up, but was carted off the field.
Always wear a cup, you guys. Even if you don’t think you need one. It’s always better to be safe than sore and engorged.
