Stephen Colbert is the ultimate patriot, so it should come as no surprise that he pulled out all the stops while celebrating our soccer team’s dramatic victory over Ghana. After all, there is nothing more American than acting like you’re better than anyone else with the volume knob turned to 11.

The late-night funnyman claims he’s been a long-time fan of the team, but something tells me he doesn’t know his Tony Meola from his Graham Susi. But that doesn’t diminish his excitement over Clint Dempsey the man or Clint Dempsey the goldfish. No, Colbert has soccer fever and the only prescription is wearing every bit of Team USA gear he can get his hands on.

We know the feeling, dude.

If the Americans can somehow squeak by Portugal on Sunday, we wouldn’t be surprised if there’s a real-life bald eagle flying through his studio on Monday night.
