The Seattle Seahawks posted, and promptly deleted, this tweet earlier this afternoon with the caption, “We shall overcome. #MLKDay.”
Predictably, people are branding this as an epic Twitter fail. But while it’s probably not the best idea to equate winning a football game with the struggle for civil rights, I have to wonder if it’s really that offensive. I’m also not entirely sure if comparing the two disparate items was the team’s intention.
On the other hand, online outrage waits for no man or explanation.
