Ronda Rousey Is Definitely Interested In Fighting Miesha Tate For A Third Time

In a media call for UFC 190 where she will meet Bethe Correia this weekend, Ronda Rousey addressed whether or not she’d be interested in taking on Miesha Tate for a third time. She also compared the other fighters in her division to “plants.” As in plants in a garden.

“I need these other girls,” said Rousey, as reported by MMA Fighting. “It’s not like I can do this by myself. I need a dancing partner. The analogy that I use a lot is that these girls are like plants. Sometimes you can grow a crop and you can harvest it year after year like Miesha. Sometimes you harvest it once, it’ll never grow back.”

Ouch.

Apparently Tate being on a four-fight winning streak since losing to Rousey by armbar for a second time means she can be harvested again. Not to mention the fact that Tate is the only woman to have taken Rousey past the first round.

“There’s fan interest, so then there’s my interest. I’m interested in just defending my title as many times as I need to before I feel like I’m done. If she’s the best competitor and she’s who the fans want to see, then I’m extremely interested in doing it,” said Rousey.

Rousey also laid out her schedule for the next few months (via MMA Mania)…

“Here is pretty much the plan: I’m going to beat up Bethe, then I’m going to take a couple of weeks to rest. Then I’m going to go beat up Miesha. And then I’m going to go to, I don’t know, Thailand or wherever we decide to film, and prep for like a month and then start filming for like 8-10 weeks and then go beat up the next chick. That’s pretty much my plan.”

So does Rousey think that Bethe Correia, who Ronda has some deep-seated hatred for, will be a plant she can harvest again after this weekend’s fight? Probably not.

“I don’t think Bethe will ever come back after this,” said Rousey. “But I think this might be the final season I can harvest the Tate crop.”

I guess if we can’t have a Rousey-Cyborg fight, we’d definitely settle for Rousey-Tate III.
