Report: Redskins Pressured GM’s Wife To Apologize To ESPN Reporter Even Though She Suspected Affair

Yesterday, we reported on Redskins GM Scott McCloughan’s wife Jessica berating ESPN reporter Diana Russini on Twitter, claiming that the ESPN reporter was her husband’s sidechick by asking her “how many blowjobs did you give to get that story.”

After the Redskins first denied that the Twitter account belonged to Mrs. McCloughan, she then admitted to making the tweets and apologized to the ESPN reporter.

Here was her statement via PFT.

I deeply apologize for the disparaging remarks about an ESPN reporter on my personal Twitter account,” Jessica McCloughan said in a statement to PFT, which was issued by the franchise. “The comment was unfounded and inappropriate, and I have the utmost respect for both the reporter and ESPN. I regret that my actions have brought undeserved negative attention to the Redskins organization and its leadership. My comments in no way reflect the opinions or attitudes of the organization and I regret that my behavior has in any way negatively impacted the team and its loyal fan base.”

But according to Mrs. McCloughan’s sister-in-law, Shannon Rutherfurd, the Redskins pressured the GM’s wife into apologizing to the ESPN reporter even though she really did think Russini was having an affair with her husband.

Shannon Rutherford, Jessica’s sister-in-law, told Radar that she knew about Jessica’s belief that her husband was cheating on her with the reporter, confirming that she has been aware “for a few weeks” about the “side chick” prior to the Twitter scandal.

Rutherford explained that she did not want to be involved in the “political situation,” but when asked if the Redskins pressured Jessica to release a statement that was not true, she told Radar, “Yes.”

God the Redskins are such a shit show.
