Getting gains takes a ton of effort and care. You can lift all the weights you want, but if you’re not taking care of your nutrition, then you’re screwed. The gain train will never be stopping by your house.

Luckily, we’ve got your back. Because we’re bros, and good bros have other bros back. Here are 5 protein shake recipes guaranteed to taste damn good, pack a kickass nutritional punch, and flag down the gain train to stop by your bro pad.

It’s time to upgrade your protein game, bros. Here are the recipes to 5 damn good protein shakes:

J.Camm’s Post-Workout Gainz Cocktail (blender needed):

  • 6oz of water.
  • 2 Ice cubes.
  • 2 scoops Champion Nutrition Chocolate Brownie, any other brand will work, but if you want to follow the lead of one of the top Bro’s from Brobible, Champion Nutrition is the go to. [J.Camm’s Note: Another protein will not work. Champion’s taste is superior to all others. Try it for yourself. But don’t you dare come begging for my forgiveness when its taste proves me right. Don’t you dare do that]
  • 1 – 1.5 scoops of uncooked oats.

The secret ingredient:

Natures Valley Honey Oats bar. Both of them. When I first heard that secret ingredient my whole protein shake world came crashing down upon me. How could I never think of such a delicious addition?

This whole thing sounds freaking delicious, and I’m absolutely going to whip it up. Probably after I put myself through widowmaker hell today.

Chocolate/Peanut Butter/Banana Cake Batter:

  • 8oz water
  • Frozen banana. The frozen part is key. Run it under hot water for 20 seconds so you can peel it easily.
  • 2 scoops chocolate protein. The more chocolate, the better.
  • 1 serving of peanut butter, or if you’re watching calories, a serving of pb2.

The secret ingredients:

Sprinkle some cinnamon on top before you blend it up.

A teaspoon of vanilla extract.

The vanilla extract, combined with the frozen banana and cinnamon really gives this shake a cake batter like flavor, and puts a new twist on the old classic of peanut butter, banana, and chocolate. One can only exist on that so long, it’s time to take it to the next level.

The Hulk:

  • 8oz water
  • Heaping handful of spinach.
  • 2 scoops vanilla protein.
  • Handful of ice.

The secret ingredient:

A heaping tablespoon of unsweetened Greek yogurt.

This brings a creamy consistency to the shake, and helps get in some extra protein, along with helping increase the overall flavor and nutrition to the shake. If you’ve never made a shake with spinach, don’t get freaked out when it turns green. It’s supposed to. The cool thing is that spinach won’t screw with the flavor of the shake. It’ll still be creamy vanilla, with a green color, and a shit ton of vitamins and minerals.

The Hulk is perfect to start a day when you’re in a pinch and want to grab breakfast, unless of course you’re fasting. Then it’s a perfect post workout shake, to help make sure you feel like The Hulk.

The Berry Beatdown:

  • 8oz water
  • 1 cup blueberries.
  • 1 cup strawberries.
  • 1 cut up banana.
  • 2 scoops vanilla protein.
  • 2 tablespoons of unsweetened Greek yogurt.

There isn’t a secret ingredient to the Berry Beatdown, because there doesn’t need to me. It’s a staple smoothie that everyone and their mother has had. It’s a nutritional powerhouse that delivers plenty of fiber, micronutrients, and protein. It’s ideal to start a day, or to finish a workout.

S’mores Shake:

  • 8oz milk.
  • Handful of ice.
  • 2 scoops S’mores protein powder. Yes, S’mores. Chocolate is an okay substitute, but we’re cooking up some gains by the campfire, so get in the spirit and use a s’mores flavored protein, okay? Cellucor makes a great one.
  • 1 tablespoon sugar free chocolate syrup.
  • Dash of cinnamon.

The secret ingredients:

1 graham cracker and 1 heaping tablespoon of marshmallow fluff. The graham cracker blends up really well, and the marshmallow fluff is perfect to toss in a blender with the other ingredients. If s’mores are your jam, this bad boy will soon be your elixir for gains. If you want to take it to the next level, then crumble up and sprinkle another graham cracker on top with another dollop of marshmallow fluff.

And before you go bitching about calories, keep in mind marshmallow fluff is virtually nothing, and you’re using sugar free chocolate syrup for a reason. The graham cracker is the only major source of added calories, especially if you choose a low fat milk.
