Pacers’ Chris Copeland Stabbed, Multiple Atlanta Hawks Arrested Outside New York City Nightclub

Indiana Pacers forward Chris Copeland was stabbed in the abdomen and his wife slashed after an argument at a Chelsea nightclub early this morning.

The assailant was apprehended and Atlanta Hawks Pero Antić and Thabo Sefolosha were also arrested for interfering with the police’s attempt to establish a crime scene.

The fight broke out around 4 a.m. as the players were leaving the club.

The man who was arrested, Shezoy Bleary, 22, pulled out a knife and stabbed Copeland, 31, and slashed 28-year-old Katrine Saltara, described by investigators as Copeland’s wife, in the arm and leg, the sources said.

The second woman, Catherine Somani, 53, was slashed in the abdomen, the sources said.

Copeland and his wife are both in stable condition.

The Pacers and Hawks are in town for games against the Knicks and Nets, respectively.

Copeland has averaged 6.4 points per game during his three years in the league.
