Outrage as Pee Wee football player kicks opponent in the head

By / 10.23.13

Turns out that kicking your opponent in the head is not allowed in Pee Wee football leagues…or any leagues for that matter. A 12-year-old boy in Kansas City went all Ndamukong Suh on his opponent, throwing him down and delivering a brutal kick to the head. Refs saw the incident and ejected the player from the game. They also ejected the boy who was kicked after he took his helmet off and began swearing.

Here’s the video.

The Sedalia Youth Football League handled the aftermath poorly. Keesha Martin (the mother of the boy who was kicked) was told that the player would receive a 2-game suspension. But he was back on the field 1 game later.

Sedalia League commissioner, Jimmy Brown, confirmed that it was a 1-game suspension calling it “adequate punishment.”

Keesha Martin took matters into her own hands contacting the local news. The video appeared on the KCTV Facebook page and on Monday night, the player was suspended for the rest of the season.

Sadly, the league had to be shamed publicly before making the correct decision. Way to go Sedalia, you’re doing youth sports right.
