With These New Electric Surfboards You Don’t Need Waves To Surf, And The Mississippi River Turns Into Waimea Bay

It’s 2015 and we don’t have full-functional flying cars and/or hoverboards yet, but we do have electric surfboards (jetboards) that turn rivers into Pipeline, and remove the need for waves in order to surf. I thought this was supposed to be the future, and in that future we’d all be whizzing around in the air and not on the water? But hey, I’m not complaining, because this electric surfboard (jetboard) from Onean looks like the biggest step forward in boardsports since the first person used a jetski to get pulled into massive waves.

Yes, I’m fully aware that Lexus has recently unveiled what they’re calling a ‘hoverboard’, and yes, I’m also aware that it’s not actually a true hoverboard (it will only run on a special track). Yes, I’m also aware that jetboards/electric surfboards have been around for some years, but none have been quite on the level of these new offerings from Onean, which are available for pre-order now. Just look at this thing in action and tell me you don’t want one:

Here’s what the Onean website has to say about these jetboards, how they work, and when they’ll be available to the public:

Onean presents an electric jet board to enjoy high speed over water. From cruising over the water surface for the most adventurous ones to the most extreme performances for adrenaline fans. We have designed several boards and propulsion systems so you can choose the best for you. Lightweight and fast. Its powerful electric jet is environmentally friendly and really intuitive to use.

Onean is a brand registered by the company Aquila Boards which designs and manufactures electric powered boards. We have worked on the design since early 2013 with the support from Bizintek innova, our Product Development Engineering Company. After having validated the product concept during 2014 we launch our two first models into the market by the end of 2015.
