Here Are Our Week 10 NFL Picks Against The Spread

Raise your hand if you thought the Bengals were going to get run out of their own stadium by the Browns. (Crickets…) OK then. Moral of the story is the same thing we’ve already known, but the Bengals fail to recognize: Andy Dalton isn’t good. I’m still not sure how he got that contract extension in the offseason. The Bengals need to find a long-term alternative or else A.J. Green is going to leave town as fast as you can say Skyline Chili.

Locks of the Week:

BALTIMORE -10 over Tennessee
There are three things you can count on in life: death, taxes, and the Ravens at home. They’re 42-10 there since Joe Flacco came to town and they should run through Tennessee this week. The Ravens are smarting after losing two division games on the road and they’ll take it out on Tennessee.

Kyle’s pick: Baltimore

Atlanta -3 over TAMPA BAY
I’m not sure what Josh McCown has on Lovie Smith, but there’s no reason he should be starting again for Tampa Bay. The Bucs clearly aren’t making the playoffs, so they should be seeing whether or not Mike Glennon is capable of being a backup for them going forward by playing him now. He obviously isn’t the long term plan and neither is the 35-year-old McCown. Although maybe we’re all ignoring that Tampa Bay may know McCown is worse and they’re trying to lose games to get a higher pick in the draft. Maybe the Falcons can find some weed in Tampa to celebrate.

Kyle’s pick: Tampa Bay

PHILADELPHIA -7 over Carolina
Fantasy and gambling hopes rest on the Sanchize, which is really scary. Mark Sanchez looked good enough last week for us to think he’s fully capable of steering this Eagles’ ship to a division title. Carolina’s defense has been a sieve all season, so there’s no reason for that to stop this week.

Kyle’s pick: Carolina

Trap Game of the Week:

DETROIT -2.5 over Miami
I’m not sure if this game is getting enough publicity, but it should. Arguably the league’s two best defenses face off on Sunday in what should be an ugly affair. Having a healthy Calvin Johnson and Reggie Bush should help push the Lions over the edge. This also might be the biggest game Ryan Tannehill has ever played and is certainly best defense he’s faced this year.

Kyle’s pick: Detroit

‎Rest of the Picks:

BUFFALO +1 over Kansas City
People are jumping on the Chiefs’ bandwagon after their stretch of four wins in five games including wins against New England and San Diego, but Buffalo’s defense will test them. The Bills are the seventh-best defense against the run according to Football Outsiders and should limit the Chiefs’ effectiveness. The key to the game, however, is the health of Sammy Watkins. If he doesn’t play, I doubt the Bills pull this off.

Kyle’s pick: Kansas City

N.Y. JETS +6 over Pittsburgh
All hail Ben Roethlisberger after throwing six touchdowns ‎in back-to-back games, setting a league record. Now he gets to face the worst pass defense in the league. What’s not to like? A hangover for one as the Steelers just played Indianapolis and Baltimore. Now they have to motivate themselves for the Jets. The Jets didn’t look awful last week in losing to the Chiefs. They would’ve scored twice the points with execution on a couple plays. I also think their pass rush could have a field day with the Steelers’ line.

Kyle’s pick: Pittsburgh

San Francisco +6 over NEW ORLEANS
Let’s first start out by saying neither of the teams is that good. Winning this game should give neither team hope of a strong season. They’re massively overrated due to past performances. The Saints have a greater home field advantage than most teams in the league, but the Niners aren’t intimidated by it because they won here before in Kaepernick’s debut.

Kyle’s pick: New Orleans

Dallas -7 over JACKSONVILLE
It looks as if Tony Romo’s going to gut things out and play in London on Sunday. If that’s the case, even 60 percent of Romo is better than the 100 percent of Brandon Weeden we saw last week. The Jaguars’ defense is improved, but they should get dominated by the Dallas’ offensive line.

Kyle’s pick: Dallas

OAKLAND +11.5 over Denver
Your initial thought is that Denver should blow out Oakland’s 29th-ranked defense according to Football Outsiders since they’re pissed off after losing to New England last week. But 12 points is a lot, even with a team that hasn’t won a game yet this season. The Raiders have been somewhat feisty, like what they put together in Seattle last week.

Kyle’s pick: Denver

SEATTLE -8 over N.Y. Giants
The Giants haven’t played well this year against good teams. And when I say they haven’t played well, I mean they’ve been terrible. Seattle might not be what they were last year, but they’re still a good team and playing in Seattle is never easy. Maybe if the Giants threw 40 balls to Odell Beckham, they’d have a shot since his hands are nice.

Kyle’s pick: Seattle

ARIZONA -7 over St. Louis
I’m going to chalk last week’s performance by the Rams up as an anomaly. Their defense was giving up points in bunches before then and the Niners clearly aren’t clicking offensively right now. Arizona’s a different story, operating like a well-oiled machine so far this year as they’ve amassed a league-leading record.

Kyle’s pick: Arizona

Chicago +7.5 over GREEN BAY
The game was close at halftime the last time these two teams played, but then it all went to shit at halftime and Chicago really hasn’t recovered since. The Bears still have plenty of offensive weapons to keep this one close and the bye week will have cleaned up the offense somewhat.

Kyle’s pick: Green Bay
