The New York Mets social media team isn’t in midseason form. After pitcher Daisuke Matsuzaka struck out the side in the top of the first inning of today’s spring training game, the team sent out this gem:

Realizing quickly that this was not the best nickname for the hurler, the tweet came down almost as soon as it went up. But damage control didn’t start before eagle-eyed readers made quick work of screen shots.

The Mets apologized for the error in its next tweet.

While this is cringeworthy, we shouldn’t be surprised the next time someone doing this particular strikeout tribute forgets to flip a letter around. You know it’s going to happen again.
