After an exciting card from UFC 127 this past weekend, there was one fight that stuck in my mind: Michael Bispng vs Jorge Rivera. These two men talked trash for weeks and weeks leading up to the fight. Even at the weigh-ins you could cut the tension with a knife. After two rounds, Bisping finished Rivera with a barrage of punches that put him down.
It's time to rank the Middleweight division for this week's Cagehero MMA Rankings.
1. Anderson Silva (27-4)
Pretty clear cut decision with this rank after dismantling Vitor Belfort. Silva is an astounding 13-0 in the UFC.
2. Chael Sonnen (25-11-1)
Will keep here soley based on the fact that he came the closest to defeating Silva. Look for Sonnen to jump right back into the mix with a top 5 opponent next.
3. Yushin Okami (26-5)
We strongly believe that Okami should get a crack at Anderson Silva. He has done everything he has been asked to do. Lets not screw this guy over based on the fact that he isn't all that marketable. Give him the shot he deserves.
4. Nate Marquardt (30-10-2)
100% is a top 5 fighter in this division. Unfortunately he has choked twice with opportunities to get his rematch with Anderson Silva.
5.Vitor Belfort (19-8)
Although getting knocked out by Anderson Silva, we strongly believe that Vitor beats all ranked after him. Vitor vs Belcher would be a fun stand-up war.
6.Demian Maia (14-2)
Impressive win over Kendall Grove. Not sure of his return. Wouldn't mind seeing him fight Bisping to determine where both of these fighters rank.
7. Jorge Santiago (23-8)
His domination overseas has landed him back in the UFC. Fighting Brian Stann next, will prove where he stands in the MW division.
8. Michael Bisping (20-3)
Illegal knee aside, Bisping outclassed Rivera in every aspect of the game. I'd like to see him fight the winner of Stann vs Santiago, or give him Maia to see if he belongs in the race for the title.
9. Ronaldo Souza (14-2, 1 NC)
Good wins over Tim Kennedy and Robbie Lawler. Would love to see who Strikeforce has lined up for him next. Mayhem? Rockhold? Le? Who knows what Strikeforce has up their
10. Alan Belcher (16-6)
He has been cleared to train following multiple eye surgeries this summer. Belcher is an exciting and dangerous fighter and matches up well with a lot of top tier fighters in the division. Looking forward to seeing Belcher back in the cage.
