After you’ve won a fight you thank the people that help get you there, your trainer, your friends and family, whichever God you believe in if that’s your thing. But for Benny Madrid he thanked one too many people.
Madrid defeated Jeff Fletcher via submission at the World Series of Fighting 23 and then thanked the important people in his life in the post-fight interview. “Thank you everyone who believed in me… my wife and girlfriend.” Ooopsies. Way to go Benny! I knew you were a straight-up killer with the ladies based solely on your sweet lipstick kiss tattoo on your neck.
I certainly hope that for Benny’s sake that he and his wife have an “arrangement,” otherwise Benny could be in for a much, much tougher fight when he gets home, and the next day he’ll be thanking his friend for letting him crash on his couch.
However it turns out that Benny might not have a wife AND girlfriend because he clarified his statement on the Sports Illustrated Facebook page. “Lol it’s my girlfriend/fiancé that’s going to be my wife .. Was caught up in the moment,” Benny said. Riiiiiiight.
