Last night, Detroit Tigers third baseman Miguel Cabrera became the first player since 1967 to win baseball’s Triple Crown. The slugger finished the year with a .330 average, 44 home runs, and 139 RBI.
There was a lot of speculation if he’d play the season’s final game or take the day off to secure his lead over Mike Trout in the average department. He did suit up – his 161st game of the year – and went 0-2 before being taken out to a standing ovation from the road crowd.
Pretty cool baseball moment.
Kudos to Kansas City fans for their class in recognizing the incredible season Cabrera has authored.
