A Mexican skier will wear this skin-tight Mariachi suit at the Olympics

Sir, you’re needed at table 17 for a folk song. Oh, you’re not the entertainment? My bad señor.

This is skier Hubertus von Hohenlohe. He was born in Mexico but is of German descent. He wasn’t sure who to represent at the Sochi Olympics so he, uh, flipped a coin? Here’s what he had to say about the outfit (via Fansided).

This year’s suit is going to be more Mexican and very elegant, celebrating Mexican culture. It was very important for me this time to celebrate Mexican culture. Until I went to Mexico recently to make a documentary, I never realized what a beautiful, amazing, rich past and culture they have and what a proud people they are. It actually moved me to see how much they suffered and how much they fought for what they have. The power to have your own identity is so strong and something I believe in so I want to give it a go in a very cool, elegant way. I want to celebrate who they are, but of course in my own style.

Well, that’s sound logic—I can get down with that. The Sochi Olympics might be the worst Olympic games of our lifetime, but dammit, it’ll be stylish.
