San Francisco Giants outfielder Melky Cabrera has been suspended 50 games for a positive testosterone test, Major League Baseball is reporting.

Cabrera was enjoying a career year, entering today with a .346 average and leading the National League in both hits and runs.

The Giants, who are tied with the Los Angeles Dodgers atop the NL West, will now have to find a way to make the postseason without their most productive hitter.
