Manny Ramirez Apparently Returning to Baseball; Signs With Oakland A’s

Manny Ramirez is back. The eccentric outfielder agreed to a one-year, $500,000 deal with the Oakland Athletics earlier this afternoon. Those hoping to see his dreadlocks flopping around in the Bay Area will need to hold their horses, though. Ramirez would have to first serve a 50-game suspension for violating Major League Baseball's drug policy.

The news comes just a week after the A's signed highly touted Cuban prospect Yoenis Cespedes, who has publicly stated he'd love to play with Ramirez.

Ramirez, who will turn 40 on May 30, has a .312 lifetime batting average and 555 career home runs. That's the good. The baggage he carries is the bad. His woeful, often times disinterested defense is the ugly.
