You know how I know it's March and people are bored out of their skulls? Because college football messages boards are freaking people out with stupid allegations. This one allegedly starts on an Alabama football 24/7 message board and quickly spread when tweeted by Sam McGaw, a student reporter from Western Kentucky. The "rumor" alleges that LSU head football coach Les Miles will be fired for having an affair with a student. You know why this is stupid? Because what the hell would a student reporter in Bowling Green know about hearsay in Baton Rouge, especially regarding the personal life of the most highly-regarded D-1 college football coaches? McGaw is now getting called out left and right by other journalists for giving bullshit message board banter "legs." Here's the Tweets, via SB Nation:
There are rumors that LSU head football coach Les Miles will step down on Monday after allegedly having an affair with a student. Hmm...

Again, Les Miles' alleged affair and resignation is a complete rumor. It hasn't been confirmed yet. Nobody will know the truth until Monday.

.@blogawful Someone told me to check it out on twitter and some recruiting boards. It's a complete rumor. It's just something to speculate.
— Sam McGaw (@sammcgaw) March 3, 2013
@scottwalker6 I wasn't reporting a rumor. I simply tweeted there was a rumor going around. Nothing more. I've never claimed there were facts

And finally, there's this:
Was having a nice dinner w wife & kids and people buzzing me about Les. Spoke w source close…He tells me there's nothing to this stuff.

Then again, after Manti Te'o, Penn State, Nevin Shaprio at Miami, and scandal after scandal, who the hell knows what storylines to believe in college football anymore?
