Another example of why we were told never talk to stangers. Especially those with candy.
53 year old Garrett Douthit had been an umpiring for about three weeks before his arrest. Douthit is a disabled veteran who says he took the job as an umpire to help support his family. Former Havelock Police Chief, Mike Campbell, is a booking agent for Balls and Strikes and says Douthit passed a background check to become an ump.
The news report states he had no intention of selling the drugs, and had been using the pot to treat back pain. The ump is out on bond, though not without a strike.
