Lions draft pick is engaged to Miss Utah-the woman who gave the worst answer in pageant history

Miss Utah, Marissa Powell is engaged to Detroit Lions second round draft pick Kyle Van Noy. This is noteworthy because Powell is remembered for arguably the most nonsensical answer in pageant history.

I think we can relate this back to education and how we are continuing to try to strive to (pause) figure out how to create jobs right now. That is the biggest problem and I think, especially the men, are um, seen as the leaders of this and so we need to try and figure out how to create education better so we can solve this problem.

Marissa Powell redeemed herself two days later on the Today show but the damage had already been done. One of the people who came to her defense after the flub? You guessed it, Kyle Van Noy.

“She has been a very big influence in my life, and I was able to be there for her in a time of need. That’s kind of why I got off social media because of the criticism she took and not being able to stick up for her,” Van Noy told Dick Harmon of the Deseret News last summer.
