My point is that Irving's virtuosity has transcended his popularly hated background. He's so much damn fun to watch. The ball looks like it's coming off a yo yo string for him, and he has the stepback J of a wily vet. He also occasionally does stuff like this—playing a pickup game with a bunch of Montclair State University students, just because. Even a Tar Heel has to like him.
