When Twitter first started a few years ago, one of its first big stars was Shaq. Which is a shame, because Shaq now sucks on the site. Look at his feed: It's a steady stream of retweets from fans who say "You're my hero if i can't get an RT i'll be smh," and when he does actually post an original thought it's typically a sponsored post or some sort of other useless stream of 140 characters.

Why do I bring this up? Because Kobe Bryant is now on Twitter, and this is the perfect opportunity for the Mamba to one-up his eternal nemesis.

Bryant joined just a couple of hours ago, and he already has over 150,000 followers. His first tweet was classic Kobe—egotistical, in that he finished it with a hashtag of a nickname he gave himself; yet still kind of awesome.

We have high hopes for Kobe, especially because he's long been a fascinating follow on Facebook. Unseat Shaq's long dormant title as king of Twitter, and make up for that "Tell Me How My Ass Tastes" beatdown.
