Kickalicious learned English by listening to Wu-Tang Clan

You’ve no doubt heard of Havard Rugland, aka Kickalicious. A Norwegian kicker vying for a spot on the Detroit Lions roster. Rugland became famous for his trick shot video on YouTube that went viral last fall.

Rugland probably won’t make the team but that hasn’t stopped him from becoming quite popular with his teammates. In an interview with the Free Press, guard Rob Sims tells a fascinating story.

“The first day we’re hanging out in the hot tub, right?” guard Rob Sims said Thursday. “I’m just talking to him and I was like, ‘You speak English really well. Man, where’d you learn English?’

“He was like, ‘Mostly from movies and listening to Wu-Tang.’ It blew my mind.”

Sims said he has yet to hear Rugland attempt to rap, “but he will hit you up with the, ‘Hey, what’s up homeys?’ I love it, man.”

Dammit, we need this guy in the NFL, if only for his faux rapping ability. Someone make this happen. Come on Lions, not like you need all 53 players. You’re gonna miss the playoffs anyway.

That last message was sponsored by a disgruntled Lions fan.
