Kansas City fans weren’t too happy with Robinson Cano for not asking hometown hero Billy Butler to participate in last night’s Home Run Derby.
The Royals faithful booed the New York Yankees second baseman the entire time he was at home plate taking his hacks in the contest. And perhaps it got to him, as the defending champion failed to hit a single home run.
I get the frustration with not seeing your favorite player compete in the longball-hitting jamboree, but you’ve got to wonder if that’s the best way for small-market Kansas City to present itself on the big stage.
