Miami Marlins pitching phenom Jose Fernandez blasted his first career home run last night against Atlanta. He acted like someone who had just hit his first career homer.
Fernandez posed after connecting, stared down the Atlanta Braves dugout, and took his sweet-ass time rounding the bases.
This didn’t sit well with the Braves, of course, especially third baseman Chris Johnson. Upon reaching home plate, Fernandez was confronted by catcher Brian McCann and the benches emptied before cooler heads prevailed.
The Marlins pitcher apologized for acting like such a showboat after the game, which is disappointing. Baseball needs all the professional wrestling-like heels it can get.
