UPDATE
James McLellan, a spokesman for the Irving Police Department, described what happened to the Akron Beacon Journal.
At about 6 p.m. Saturday, McLellan said, a confrontation unfolded between an 18-year-old man and Manziel at the pool area of the Four Seasons Resort and Club. The man, who was not part of Manziel’s group of friends, had been asking Manziel for his autograph for the previous couple of hours, McLellan said.
“At the point that the kid realized he wasn’t going to get an autograph, I don’t know exactly what he said, but apparently it must have been some type of trash talking,” McLellan said. “At that point, Johnny threw a water bottle at him. … Then some confrontation began to occur where one of Johnny’s friends stepped in and pushed the kid.
“At about that time is when hotel security who was there and also some of our officers who were there as well at the pool area saw this occurring and stepped in and broke it up, separated the two groups.”
This is not the first time Manziel has been harassed by a fan. Last November, Manziel was involved in an incident with a drunk fan at this then downtown residence. The fan, later went on to apologize publicly to Manziel.
