Joe Flacco isn’t all that familiar with the rules of football. Fuck it, though, because he just won a Super Bowl and is ELITE.
He had a diabolic plan to save the Ravens’ bacon just in case San Francisco’s Ted Ginn broke free on the last play of Sunday’s game. Well, a diabolical and stupid plan.
"If he starts to break it, go tackle him," Flacco told [tight end Dennis] Pitta, as caught by NFL Films microphones.
"Really?" Pitta replied.
Yeah, really. Flacco appeared to be stone serious.
"I don't know," Flacco said. "I mean, what else … what could they … I don't know. They might be able to give him a touchdown on that, but I don't know."
Flacco then went to his offensive linemen and told them the same thing.
"Hey, if he breaks it, if he busts it for some reason, tackle him, go tackle him," Flacco said. "I don't know what the rule is on that, but…"
If anyone has actually done this, of course, the referees more than likely would have either awarded the Niners a touchdown.
On the bright side, it would have instantly become one of the greatest moments in sports history.
Too bad it never happened.
